A few Reminders of what is coming up in 4H.

This coming Saturday (March 24th) is the County Super Saturday. Registration is whatever class fees + 2.50. Lunch is included.

Our next Club meeting will be April 12th. We will be having 3 demos by: Kiara, Ryan, and Shannon.

Last time we talked about taking measurements. I have asked them to take their measurements with a partner at home. If they will do this, I have a prize at our next meeting for them.
If they need some one on one help- Please contact me and we will find a time that I can help them.

They need to start deciding what projects they will be completing for our Summer Sewing camp. I would like them to choose a project that uses woven fabric like cotton, cotton-blend- (a broadcloth or flannel fabric.) Stay away from the knit fabric patterns, and fleece projects.

If your child has been in our 4H group for a while now- challenge them to find a pattern that is different than what they have already done. Perhaps a button down shirt or a matching set of skirt/shirt.

If your child is new to 4H Keep it Simple- PJ pants, shorts, elastic waist band skirts, or an apron. I have a few patterns they could use for these types of projects if you would like to use them. (I will need to know this in advance though)

With a Jo-Anns in town now- you might consider getting on their mailing list so you can find out when they have sales on patterns and fabric. When looking for patterns- look for the EASY or LEARN to SEW patterns- they tend to be more basic patterns.

Thanks for your Support of the 4H Awesomes!

March Meeting's Challenges

When we meet in April there will be prizes for those who:
!!!try out the recipes from our March Activity (a prize for each recipe)!!!

>>>Also a prize if you have worked with someone to get your measurements and have written them down on the cards you were given. Look at the diagrams on the cards to make those measurements. If you have troubles with this, call and ask for help or bring your questions to our next meeting and I will answer each of them.

It is time to consider what kind of project you will be making this summer. To do this you will need to know what size you are going to be sewing.

See the Post for the recipes!
A Special Thank You to Sarah A and Bonnie for their Fabulous "Show and Teach" Lessons.

Sarah's Amazing Avocado Dip

3 Avocado's (look for the dark color)
3 Roma Tomatoes (Diced)
1 Tbls. Lime Juice
1 tsp. salt

Cut Avocado in half and then in fouths. Remove Pit and peal skin off. Cut up in cubes and put in a bowl. Mash up Avocado. Add diced tomatoes. (Remember when cutting up the tomatoes to use a saw motion on the tomatoes- to keep their shape) (you can also substitute a can of diced tomatoes). Add lime juice and salt. Stir together, using a folding motion so that you do not crush tomatoes.

Great Job Sarah, I really enjoyed the way you demonstrated how to peal and cut the tomatoes and Avocados.

Bonnie's Fabulous Nachos

Layer shredded Cheese on a plate
Layer tortilla chips on top of cheese
(continue to add layers till the plate cannot handle any more)

Put plate into the microwave. Check every 30 seconds to see how it melting. When  it has melted enough. Dig In and Enjoy!

What a fantastic Recipe Bonnie! I loved your story about making them for your dad that he gave you a nickname for it! I know that everyone was so excited to go home and make some for themselves.
